This my 6th year teaching second grade here at St. Francis Borgia School. I’ve taught at Sacred Heart and St. Thecla before coming to SFB. My undergraduate studies were through Benedictine University and I hold a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of St. Francis. I participated in a special program through Dominican University called the Beck Fellowship. It offered Catholic school teachers the opportunity to collaborate and use a variety of technology in the classroom. I have experience teaching Kindergarten, First and Second grade. I am the most humbled when helping my students prepare for their sacraments and grateful for the opportunity to have an impact on our future. God is good!

I grew up on the South Side of Chicago. I’ve attended Catholic schools and believe in the positive impact they offer students and their families. The first school I ever taught at was the school I attended. My mom, grandparents, and teachers have all been strong role models in my life. They’ve taught me about the important things in life like the value of faith, family, education and perseverance. Every day that I teach I think about what these compassionate and committed people showed me. The best way for me to show them my gratitude is to try to the same with each of my students. I live with my husband and two kids. Their love and support give me purpose and guide me always. My greatest title I have is being called “mom”.  I like going on family adventures, listening to 80’s music and watching feel good movies.  God has greatly blessed us!

This is my sixth year teaching our First Grade students here at SFB.   I take pride in the fact that I attended St. Francis Borgia from Kindergarten through 8th grade and now have had the awesome opportunity to work alongside some of the teachers who had instructed me in addition to other colleagues I have come to know and value. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northeastern Illinois University having majored in both Elementary Education and Communication, Media, and Theatre.  I have also completed Dominican University’s Beck Fellowship on Blended Learning through Technology which has enabled me to enhance my curriculum using tools such as OSMO, digital story Apps, Green Screen to name just a few.

In my classroom, I like to create a disciplined learning environment and find much satisfaction in helping young children become acclimated to the school environment as they grow both academically and socially.  Prior to my coming back home to SFB, I had been a Teacher’s Aide at Sts. Faith, Hope & Charity in Winnetka.   I have also been a Religious Education Teacher and Eucharistic Minister. I am currently involved as Co-Moderator of our Beta Club, Co-Director of SFB’s Eighth Grade Play, and Moderator of our very own Drama Club.   I am very thankful for the Catholic education I received and know that as a Catholic School teacher I also want to help my students grow in a better understanding of their Catholic faith.   I am very proud to be part of this parish and school where SFB pride is everywhere!
